2016 Workers' Day: FG Declares May 2nd Public Holiday

The Federal government has declared Monday, which is May 2nd as a public holiday to mark the 2016 workers' day celebration.

On behalf of the government of Nigeria, the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration in a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr Bassey Akpanyung on Thursday in Abuja.

In the statement, the minister congratulated Nigerian workers for their hardwork and commitment to the change mantra of president Buhari despite current challenges.


Dambazau then encourage everyone to continue to support the president in his desire to fight corruption, while ensuring security of lives and properties and also the stabilisation of the economy through creation of jobs.

The minister further urged Nigerian workers to re-dedicate themselves to the service of the nation and remain productive for the growth and development of the country.

The Minister wished all Nigerian workers a joyful and peaceful celebration.
